Purpose of CCA
CCA is an integral
part of our pupils’ holistic education. Through CCA, pupils discover their
interests and talents while developing values and competencies that will
prepare them for a rapidly changing world. CCA also promotes friendships among
pupils from diverse backgrounds as they learn, play and grow together.
Participation in CCA fosters social integration and deepens pupils’ sense of
belonging, commitment and sense of responsibility to school, community and
Pupils progressively develop CCA-specific knowledge, skills, values and attitudes through sustained participation in any of the CCA groups. CCA also plays an important role in the holistic development of the pupils, preparing them for an increasingly globalised and complex future through the inculcation of values, social and emotional competencies and the emerging 21st Century Competencies (21CC). Pupils grow as they learn together, strive together, work with and lead one another in the CCA they participate in. CCA can fuel in the pupils a life-long love for a particular activity and motivate them to lead a balanced life in adulthood.
P3 and P4
P5 and P6
P2 pupils will be allowed to take part in 2 CCAs in a year – 1 CCA per semester. This would allow pupils to be exposed to more activities helping them discover their passion and interests and learn different types of skills.
While P3 pupils are also allowed to take part in 2 CCAs in a year, by the end of P3, they will decide on 1 CCA they can focus on to go through deep learning of the CCA in P4. P4 pupils will garner the experiences and necessary skills of their chosen CCA to enhance their potential in the CCA.
P5 and P6 pupils will be extensively trained to gain more experience in their chosen CCA. They will focus on shaping their talents and strengths. This would allow them to be confident learners and active contributors through participation in competitions.
