Art Club

Art education is one of the important areas in the holistic development of the child. It aims to instil in children an appreciation for things around them. The art club members in Jing Shan are given the opportunity to explore and experiment with different mediums in the making of art. It also takes into consideration the child's creative growth as it relates to his/her emotional, physical and intellectual development.

Objectives
1. Explore and experiment materials and tools
2. Appraise every piece of artwork
3. Respect the work of others
4. Express emotions freely through the making of art in a non-threatening environment

Pottery Club

The Visual Arts education aims to develop pupils holistically which aims to instil in children the values of responsibility, resilience and appreciation for things around them. The Pottery club members in Jing Shan are given the opportunity to learn and explore the progressive skills in ceramics, conceptualizing the design of receptacles and the art of glazing. It also provides the platform for children in their development of their physical, emotional and intellectual growth.

Objectives
1. To be able to do slab work, pinch basic shapes and coil receptacles with spouts, handles
and covers.
2. To promote the appreciation of the visual arts.

Guzheng

JSPS Guzheng CCA provides opportunities for members to learn the Guzheng as well as to showcase their talents. It also provides a platform for members to learn and appreciate Chinese Cultural music. In addition, it instils self-discipline, confidence, team spirit, and a sense of belonging in members. Our Chinese Dance team was awarded the Certificate of Accomplishment in the Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) Arts Presentation in 2016.

Objectives
To provide opportunities for pupils to learn the Guzheng and to prepare our pupils to take part in SYF, striving for excellence in all performances and competitions.

Chinese DANCE

Our Chinese Dance CCA aims to develop the physical skills and deportment of our pupils, as well as to build up their enthusiasm in the performing arts. We also aim to instil teamwork in each member, to be responsible in every role and action they take and striving for excellence in all performances. We believe with all these in place, our pupils will be better prepared to represent the school in future SYF. Our Chinese Dance team was awarded the Certificate of Distinction in the Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) Arts Presentation in 2014 and 2016.

Objectives
1. To build up pupils’ enthusiasm in the performing arts
2. Instil teamwork and responsibility in each member
3. To prepare our pupils to represent the school in SYF, striving for excellence in all
performances and competitions

Our International Dance CCA aims to develop the physical skills and deportment of our boys, as well as to build up their enthusiasm in the performing arts. We also aim to instil resilience and respect in each member, to be responsible in every role and action they take and striving for excellence in all performances. We believe with all these in place, our boys will be better prepared to represent the school in future SYF.
