C-Quest Mobile App
To complement the Cyber Wellness Curriculum implementation efforts, MOE has developed C-Quest, a mobile game App, to involve parents in reinforcing the Cyber Wellness curriculum key messages taught in school back at home. The school also hopes to equip parents with the knowledge to guide and support their children when they navigate in the online world.
Background information about C-Quest
C-Quest is specially designed to facilitate meaningful parent-child conversations on their online experiences and explore various cyber wellness issues in order to navigate the cyber space safely and responsibly.
In the game, players begin by choosing one of the three Cyber Navigators to explore the cyber seas.
- Master over Technology – to be captains of their own lives and not to be enslaved by technology and mobile gadgets;
- Protector – to watch out for one another, as protectors, not attackers, and be safe online; and
- Relationship-Builder – to build positive relationships online, to avoid sparking unnecessary conflicts which would end up hurting others and self.
The game is meant for parents with children aged 10 to 14. To complete the cyber quest, children have to converse with their parents and answer questions related to cyber wellness to earn stars and collect accessories and equipment for their Cyber Navigators. The game also provides useful tips to the players to manage their online activities. These questions and tips are aligned to the Cyber Wellness lessons in the Form Teacher Guidance Period and the CCE Cyber Wellness Guidance Module. Where opinions differ, the game provides opportunities for the players to talk about their differences and understand how others may feel or think.
The free app is available for download in Google Play and iTunes Store. More information on the app can be found at the MOE Press Release.
Parents can also download the briefing slides below to know more about the app and how to play the game.
