Our School Rules
1. RESPECT AND DIGNITY
1.1 Every student of Jing Shan Primary School must be respectful to everyone at all times. Students must show kindness in words and actions.
1.2 Every student must conduct himself/herself in a manner which upholds the good name of the school.
2. ATTENDANCE AND PUNCTUALITY
2.1 Students must attend school regularly and punctually.
2.2 Students must not leave the school grounds during the school day without permission.
2.3 Students attending afternoon activities are not allowed to leave the school premises during the lunch break before the commencement of the afternoon activity.
3. NATIONAL ANTHEM AND PLEDGE
3.1 All students must display respectful behaviour during the singing of the National Anthem and the recitation of the National Pledge.
3.2 Students who are Singapore Citizens must sing the National Anthem and take the pledge. Students will take the pledge with the right fist placed over the heart.
4. ATTIRE AND APPEARANCE
4.1 Students must wear the prescribed school uniform (as well as PE attire) and modification to the school uniform (as well as PE attire) is not allowed.
4.2 Students must be neat in appearance. Boys must be clean-shaven with no facial hair.
4.3 Students must not wear jewellery, accessories and make-up to school. Girls may wear one pair of small ear studs. Multiple ear studs on one ear are not allowed.
5. PERSONAL ITEMS
5.1 Students should not bring personal items that will cause distraction to themselves and others (e.g. toys and trading cards) to school on their own accord. Any student who does not follow the rule may have the items confiscated by the school as a disciplinary measure or for the purpose of investigation.
6. USE OF TECHNOLOGY
6.1 Students can bring personal mobile devices (such as smart phones and smart watches) to school, only after their parents inform the school formally.
6.2 Students who bring personal mobile devices to school are to be fully responsible for the safety and security of the devices.
6.3 Throughout the school day, students are to switch off the personal mobile devices, unless otherwise instructed by teachers and school staff.
6.4 Students can only use the personal mobile devices after all activities have ended for the school day for the purpose of contacting their parents and family. They can do so only in the foyer.
6.5 Students found using their personal mobile devices during any learning activity (e.g. recess, classroom lesson, CCA session and support/enrichment lesson) without permission may have their personal mobile devices confiscated as a disciplinary measure or for the purpose of investigation. The school will return the personal mobile device directly to the parents.
7. SERIOUS OFFENCE
7.1 Students are not allowed to have in their possession any weapon. They are also not allowed to bring any weapon-like item which is used or intended to be used to cause harm to others.
7.2 Students must not commit the following serious offences:
a) Vandalism
b) Fighting
c) Assault
d) Bullying
e) Theft
f) Forgery
g) Cheating during a test or examination
h) Setting off of fire alarm
i) Arson
j) Smoking
k) Vaping
l) Substance abuse
m) Bringing of undesirable or banned items to school
n) Altering or hacking of computer programs
o) Surfing of undesirable websites or installation of undesirable software or programs
p) Any other offence deemed serious by the school
CONSEQUENCES
School rules are for compliance. The consequences will be in accordance with the type and nature of the offence for students to work on his or her strengths and correct the misbehavior.
