Music Curriculum

My musical experience as I journey through lower, middle and upper school.

The Music Curriculum seeks to empower all students with the knowledge, skills and dispositions to appreciate Music and participate in it. Musical understanding is developed through the integrated domains of Listening, Creating and Performing.

It provides a key platform where every student is provided with Basic Music Education. It aims to:

Develop awareness and appreciation of music in local and global cultures
Develop ability for creative expression and communication through Music Making
Provide the basis to develop an informed and life-long involvement in Music

Core Music Learning Experience

Music is a core subject. In JS, students from Primary 1 to 4 attend two periods of music lessons weekly. For Primary 5 and 6, students attend two periods of music lessons fortnightly.

Programmes
Termly Busking Performances	Students have the opportunity to showcase their talents and interests during the termly recess busking performances.
JS Arts Festival and Performance	During the yearly JS Arts Festival, students will participate in music jamming sessions during recess. The Arts Festival also culminates in a school performance put up by our talented JingShanites.
Music Enrichment Programmes	Instrumental mastery is part of the core music learning experience in Jing Shan. Students learn to pick up the ukulele, guitar and keyboard and develop basic skills to play and appreciate music.
